All roads led to Battery park, as Clydeside AFC 2007s kicked off their very first season of 11 a side football in the PJDYFL. The boys had worked hard in preseason and were determined to kick off their campaign with a victory.
Unfortunately, with regular keeper, young Robin missing, the squad filled in to cover this loss.
As the Clydeside AFC supporters club began to congregate at the park, it was apparent that a few were a bit confused by events. J O’Malley, G Flynn & P Murtagh had turned up with a triple set of bongos, and were all ready & keen to play them. John explained how they were told by other parents that we were coming to the Battery park to beat the Drum, hence the bongos. It was quickly explained that the drum in question was Drumchapel, and not the percussion band he had formed that morning .🤔
Despite this confusion, the home crowd roared on a great first half performance by the CAFC, who stormed into a 4-1 lead. Some great passing and link up play had given the youngsters this comfortable lead.
The second half continued in much the same vein as the first with the local boys scoring 2 more, to win their first competitive 11 a side game, 6-2. A tremendous opening day result and performance. Goals were scored by Leo x3, Connor, Kaiden and Lewis.
Well done Clydeside AFC 2007s.
Thanks from all at Clydeside AFC 07s to the following :-
