When it was announced that St Mirren were the opponents for Clydeside’s first transitional 11 a side game , there was great excitement amongst the parents !
This was due to the historical rivalry between Inverclyde and Paisley fans and of course their respective teams, Greenock Morton and St Mirren.
None more so than John O’Malley. When John heard that his boy’s team were playing his biggest rivals, he had threatened to immediately return from Ibiza in the clothes he was wearing, to see it ! However, when he video WhatsApped the other Clydeside parents to ask their opinion, they quickly persuaded him to stay, as they felt his white string vest and Primark cargo pants wouldn’t have created a great impression in Linwood!😫
Anyway onto the game and any thoughts, that the boys would be nervous or apprehensive, were soon dispelled !
A free flowing display full of great skill and character was to follow ! The first half was a goal -fest with the Inverclyde boys scoring 6 with no reply! The second was a lot closer, as the coaches made plenty of changes to ensure equal game time !
Scorers in a great team performance were Kaiden 2, Leo 2, Josh, Connor, Carter and Lewis .
