Clydeside AFC v Carolside SC 2007s

Saturday 14 November

10.15am ko

Battery 3G

Clydeside rolled up for their second home game in a row, still buoyed by the gutsy late over St Mirren the week before !

The starting line up had only one change, with young Josh having to self isolate!

Their opponents, Carolside’s name had a rather festive sound to it! However, Clydeside were determined that no Xmas presents would be given out on the park today !🎄

The home boys got off to the best start possible, when good work between James and Leo on the left flank, ended with the latter, firing over a low cross, that was expertly finished by Lewis!

With the midfield 4, of Leo, Carter, Cameron and Connor controlling the game, it looked like it was only a matter of time before this lead would be increased! This was indeed the case on 9 mins, when Carter pounced on a goalmouth melee, and prodded home the second !

Two became three, 5 mins later, and it was the goal of the match. Kieran had been up for a corner and stayed up, to fire an unstoppable half volley, from the edge of the 18 yard box, into the top right hand corner.

As wave after wave of attacks rained down on the visitors goal, it was inevitable that more goals would follow ! The fourth, started at the back as Rory, played to Robbie, who fed Leo! His cross, was unfortunately netted by the Carolside defender after great pressure from Zack, forced the error !

CAFC were awarded a penalty right on half time, after a foul by the visitors centre back! Skipper for the day, James, stepped up, only to be foiled by the visitors keeper, making a wonderful save ! Unfortunately for him, but luckily for CAFC, Leo was the sharpest to follow up the rebound and fire home!

As the home side went in 5-0 at half time they could be suitably happy with their efforts ! However, they now know that the coaches will always look for more in every game and training session !

The second 35 began as the first had ended, with Clydeside on the front foot and looking for more goals!

After several spurned opportunities, they scored a sixth, when Lewis showed his predatory instinct again, to score from close range!

The coaches now wanted to ensure that every boy in the squad got a good taste of the action !

Ethan and newly signed Aidan came on for Rory & Carter, with James moving into midfield ! They were closely followed by young Aaron with Zack coming off, and Leo moving up front !

The final two subs, Kyle and Tyler, came on shortly afternoon replace Connor and Cameron!

Although plenty changes had been made, CAFC continued to attack and got a seventh when Leo’s 25 yard shot, was fumbled in by the visitors young keeper, who had been brilliant throughout!

The visitors grabbed a very late consolation goal, but it wasn’t enough to dampen the enthusiasm and attitude of an impressive home performance!

It was a very pleasing and encouraging day for all concerned with CAFC. Especially in that all 16 boys, got good game time and everyone contributed to a fine team win and performance !

Final score:-

Clydeside AFC 7 v 1 Carolside SC 2007s

Like the previous week, there were loads of fine performances throughout the team !

Man of the match for his all round display and superb goal was Kieran!!
